Hole In One at the 2011 PGA Cup Matches

Ko-Mar Productions made it out to the suburbs of San Francisco to film the hour long highlight show for the PGA of America. This was the 25th edition of this Ryder Cup format of play. We shot at the beautiful Cordevalle Resort in San Martin, California.

We had a five camera unit to follow all the action. We had great weather and many golf highlights! Here is a quick link to our Hole In One by Team USA player Danny Balin. Caught by chance by Videographer, Paul Piasecki. It also made Number 10 Highlight on ESPN SportsCenter that week.

Another moment was captured on hole #9 Marty Jertson for an Eagle, it was also on SportsCenter, shot by Videographer Bill Welsh.

The Sony F3, "The Next Level"

We are excited to announce that Ko-Mar Productions has purchased the Sony PMW F3 Super 35mm sensor camera! Due to the new sensor technology, digital cinematography is a specialized way to obtain a "National Commercial Look," on an affordable budget. With the use of high quality prime lenses, you can achieve an extrordinary 35mm film look, but with no film processing or transfer.

This camera offers creative shallow depth of field similar to what you see on commercials and motion pictures. The camera is surprisingly more compact than a , "Red One" or "Arri Alexa." It is easier to handhold and put in tight spaces, just great versatility. It also has professional XLR audio outputs and HD SDI output capabilities.

Low light sensitivity is great for shooting at night or indoors with natural light for minimal lighting packages.

Shown is the 85mm lens with Matte Box and Follow Focus.

Here are a couple from our recent City Mattress shoot in our studio..This camera has a big future in the Ko-Mar arsenal of camera equipment.

Cresswind Real Estate Shoot

Ko-Mar productions had a crew up in Gainesville, Georgia just outside of Atlanta for a production shoot for Cresswind at lake Lanier. (www.cresswind.com).
We had a 27' jib on the shoot. Lot's of interviews to get. The property is on Lake Lanier, beautiful area of Georgia.
We used Atlanta local Chris Conway and his assistant to help with our jib shots right over the lake entrance at Cresswind. We got some nice sweeping shots over the water.
We used our Sony F-800, brought up our 1 ton grip van with all the lighting.
 Sizing up the shot......
Wonderful sunset time-lapse to end the shoot. Crew was, Jim Gallagher, Paul Piasecki, Anthony Angrisani, Edward Sabitini..

"Sunrise to Sunset" CBS/PGA Road Trip

This was the sunrise view from our hotel room at the www.ccofcolorado.com Country Club of Colorado.
Here Anne is teaching the young one's the game of golf. Yes it is like herding cats, but she is really good at it!
During the CBS show, each PGA teaching professional does a 30 second golf tip. Chris listening in..
The next morning Paul wanted to get a little flava of the Colorado Springs area, this was a cool place called, "Garden of the Gods." www.gardenofgods.com This park takes a couple of days to go through but due to catching a plane we had an hour. Setting up a time-lapse shot. This other view is neat, it is called, "Balancing rock" for obvious reasons. What this photo scale doesn't show is that you can stand under the space on the bottom right, it is the size of a school bus!
One of the other trips was to Rochester, New York home of the famous,www.oakhillcc.com "Oak Hill" golf course.
Here, another time-lapse set up. We were there to film a segment with resident PGA teaching professional, Craig Harmon.
Hole Number 18. This course has a lot of history, many championships and a Ryder cup!
We had the pleasure of seeing Craig's father's Masters jacket that was on display in the pro shop. You don't see that everyday! We all got a quick shot. Kathy Jorden of the PGA of America, DP, Paul Piasecki, Craig Harmon EP, Jim Gallagher.
This was a treat to see this up close. Craig brings this display out for members to enjoy around the time of the Masters Tournament. Overall, we did about a dozen or so trips all over the Country. The show airs this Sunday on CBS from 2-3pm EST. The show is called, "Sunrise to Sunset, A PGA Professionals Life."

Golf Digest Digital Shoot

It was one of those, "this is why we live down here", type of day at the PGA Village Golf property in Port Saint Lucie, FL..(pgavillage.com)  for another Golf  Digest Digitaln (golfdigest.com) series of  tips with  golf professional, Jeff Ritter.(jeffrittergolf.com)

This is a three camera shoot that will be shot in the field and posted at Ko-Mar Headquarters. Here Director/Producer Chris DeMaio controls the crew with his mind control device, just kidding..clear-com headsets and 3 monitors for the 3 cameras.

Jeff was a nice guy and easy to work with, he ended up doing a dozen or so 5 minute tips that will eventually be edited and released soon online and for ipad apps. It was a nice day, no clouds and 70 degree's.

Besides using state of the art Ko-Mar Cameramen, we incorporated a Steadicam guru by the name of Andy Montejo. He is based out of Orlando, FL. He shoots a variety of projects, we met him on a Golf Channel show with Greg Norman a couple of months ago and felt he would give us a different look and feel for these tips, come on its' a steadicam, instant production value! Its' big time friend.

Here, Andy is floating the camera around Jeff during his tip, it takes many years of practice to use this rig, it looked great!

Crew: Todd Kolich, Jim Gallagher, Chris DeMaio, Paul Piasecki, Anthony Angrisani, Jose Flores, Christiana Schwartz, Andy Montejo and his assistant and Golf Digest Writer/Editor Ron Kaspriske.
